Compass to Care is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that ensures all families, who demonstrate a financial need, can access life-saving cancer treatment for their children. We carry out this mission by scheduling and paying for travel arrangements to get a child to the hospital where he/she is being treated for cancer, including: airfare, bus fare, car rental, gasoline, lodging, parking fees, taxi fees, train fare, and/or tolls.
Compass to Care was founded in 2010 but Park Ridge Newcomer Michelle Ernsdorff. Michelle's parents faced the challenges of paying for travel when she was diagnosed with kidney cancer as an infant. Her vision is to ensure no parent would have to do the extreme things her parents did so they could get their child to the hospital for cancer treatment.
To date, the organization has funded over 2200 journeys for children to receive cancer treatment.
