About the Club

Who can join Newcomers?

Membership is open to any female resident of Park Ridge, Illinois.

I live near, but not in, Park Ridge. Can I join the club?
Unfortunately, no. Because the mission of Park Ridge Newcomers Club is to promote friendship and networking between female residents of Park Ridge, IL we limit our membership to women who live within the city's borders.

**New amendment to the Newcomers Bylaws - effective May 2014:

Niles residents whose residence is within the D64 school boundaries may request membership into the Club. Verification of residency will be required.

What are the requirements of being a member?
Members pay annual dues of $40. After seven years of regular membership, a member is granted alumni status and has her annual dues reduced to $20. All regular members are asked to work one 3-hour shift at our Fall and Spring Kids Sales.

Do all members have to be on a committee?
No, you do not have to be on a committee to be a part of the club! However, many women find that joining a committee is a fantastic way to get to know other members better and really feel involved.

Am I expected to attend a certain number of events each year?
You may attend as many, or as few, events as you desire throughout the year - with one exception. We ask that all regular members work one 3-hour shift at both our Fall and Spring Kids Sales. Proceeds from these fund raisers subsidize all our other events throughout the year, as well as keep our annual dues low. Therefore, we ask for all members' help to make them a success.

What kind of things does your club do?

Each month, we hold members only socials or general meetings in the evenings. These take place either at a local business or a member's home. Some of the other regularly scheduled social activities we organize include: a monthly book discussion group, Moms on the Move - a group for women with small children that meets for play dates and kid-friendly outings, Couples Home Gourmet dinners for members and their spouses, family-friendly activities such as a Halloween Party, Easter Egg Hunt, and Summer Outings.

In the fall and spring, we hold our club fund raiser: Kids Sale. The consignment sale offers gently used baby & kids clothing, toys, games and equipment. Along with raising funds for Newcomers, the Kids Sale generates a large amount of donations for local charities.

The club also participates in other philanthropic activities throughout the year. In recent years, we have sponsored girls at The Youth Campus for their birthdays and Christmas, donated toys to Lutheran General Children's Hospital, and collected food and coats for other local charities. Our club's signature philanthropy, Labor of Love, supports a local Park Ridge family in need each year.

When do I have to renew my dues?

Annual dues come up for renewal on May 1st of each year. Members who have not renewed their annual dues by September 1st are considered lapsed, and cannot attend socials or meetings until they pay their club dues.
